Tom Williams, father of Lincoln Williams, is in his late 50’s and has been carving since the age of 12. He is from the Squamish Nation in British Columbia. Tom is a self taught artist, although he had direction in his carving career having worked under tutelage of his uncle Jim Paul and his father-in-law, Master Carver, Chief Floyd Joseph of the Capilano Reserve. The artist carves in both red and yellow cedar, plaques and paddles and other wall art in the North West Coast motif. He pays careful attention to detail in his carving, showing deep incisions in to the cedar.
